Ten Reasons Why Spain Will Win the Fifa World Cup

1. St Iker: Any side that aspires to win football’s greatest prize needs a world class goalkeeper on top of his game. Italy had Buffon in 2006, and for South Africa 2010 read Iker Casillas. The Madrid stopper is considered Spain’s finest keeper of all time; lightning reactions, in command of his area and solid with his feet; he has it all. In the Bernabeu they call him ‘San Iker’, and after saving their skin on literally hundreds of occasions, you do begin to if there are any extra-terrestrial powers hidden within those gloves.

2. For club and country: Right across the Spanish first eleven you will find pockets of players that ply their trade together at club level, and that understanding is irreplaceable. In defence you have Pique and Puyol from Barca, in midfield Xavi and Iniesta (and Sergio Busquets when Senna isn’t available) and upfront; Villa and Silva from Valencia. They all know each other so well they have developed an almost telepathic understanding, and instantly transform club form onto the international stage.

3. Euro Euforia: For years Spain had gone into tournaments among the favourites, only to disappoint time and time again. Them and England had mastered the art of crashing out in the quarter-finals. But Euro 2008 changed all that. Whilst England didnt even manage to qualify, Spain waltzed their way to Vienna and defeated the Germans to lift the Euro 2008 trophy. They have finally discarded the ‘Perennial Underachievers’ tag that had plagued them for so long; now for the World Cup.

4. Villa Maravilla: Is their a more lethal marksmen in the game right now than David Villa? Right now only Eto’o and Luis Fabiano for Brazil comes close. The other pretender will be lining up right next to him; Fernando Torres. Villa was a revelation in Euro 2008, scoring 4 in 4 to send Spain rocketing towards the final, finishing the tournament as top scorer. Unfortunately for the Valencia hotshot he was unable to play against the Germans due to injury, but he will be raring to put that right in South Africa. The striker has 33 goals for Spain, and has scored three goals already in a World Cup: he has to be a solid bet for topscorer in 2010’s showpiece.

5. Superstylin: Is there an international team that plays with the same panache and flair than Spain right now? The answer has to be a resounding no. Spain have won over the world with their characteristic incisive, one-touch passing. They score goals for fun, as their qualifying group rivals will testify. They run rings round teams, grinding them into submission, almost toying with their opposition at times. They have a settled first eleven and fixed formations for any given circumstance or fixture. Teams just cannot get the ball off them, and as any wily football coach will tell you: you cant score goals if you don’t have the ball.

6. Fight with Flair: As mentioned above we all knew about Spain’s flair, but as yesterdays friendly against Argentina showed, they’re not afraid to get stuck in. Argentina came out in the second half with a gameplan to get stuck into Spain’s miniature midfield men. Masherano and Gago set about Xavi, Iniesta and Alonso with a ruthlessness one would expect from a team led by Diego Maradona. But Spain gave as good as they got, and never lost their heads in the heat of the battle. Villa, Alonso, Xavi and co. showed they can fight fire with fire, and Spain ended up putting the Argentinians to bed. This bodes well for a World Cup where teams will have no choice but to bully Spain.

7. Supersubs: When Cesc Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina and Alvaro Negredo find it difficult to break into the first eleven, you know you´re dealing with a special group of players. They have world-class players as back-up in all departments: Senna gets injured, in comes Busquets. Silva needs a rest, let’s bring on Juan Mata. Third choice stiker Negredo feels like a breather? Bring on La Liga’s top scorer from 2008, Dani Güiza. Incredible.

8. Mixing it up: The Spanish have a fantastic mix of wise old heads and spriteful youth. Players like Puyol, Casillas, Xavi and Senna have been there and done it. The younger players such as Iniesta, Silva and Cesc were all part of the Euro 2008 winning team, so nothing will phase them next year. And with some cracking youth coming through in the shape of Jesus Navas, Juan Mata, Pablo Hernandez and Nacho Monreal, Spain are in a fantastic position to let them loose in friendlies before next summer.

9. Anybody out there? Who are realistic challengers to Spain’s assault on South Africa? Brazil, Argentina, Italy, France and Germany are the usual suspects. England and Holland will make a splash, but you can normally rely on those already mentioned to mount the more serious challenges. Spain have beaten them all in the last two years, with the exception of Brazil, and we were denied our opportunity to see them pit their wits against each other at the Confederations Cup due to an unexpected giantkilling from USA. Man for man, I would put my 10euros on Spain, but in no way should one underestimate the Brazilians, who always seem to wheel out the performances for the big occasions.

10. It’s their turn! Brazil, Argentina, Italy, France and Germany have all won the thing, so it has to be Spain’s turn, right? France proved you can win a World Cup and European Championship in succession with their double in 1998 and 2000, so Spain shouldn’t feel overawed by the prospect. World Cups are naturally difficult to predict, and anything can happen in 90 minutes of knock-out football. But I’ve already made my prediction, and if ‘La Roja’ manage to shake off the burden of expectation and turn it on in South Africa, the trophy will surely be heading to Barajas Airport on July 12th 2010.

The New Real Madrid of Mourinho

Real Madrid won 97 points in the Primera league last year. That is the all-time record for them. However, they finished on the second place because Barcelona won 99. Although their former coach Pellegrini did a great job in forming the new team after so many star players arrived, he got fired in the end because he couldn’t get the title.

Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez turned to Jose Mourinho, who is labeled by many as the best coach in the world. He brought him from Inter and installed him in the hot seat. He is expected to bring back the glory that Madrid had a few years ago. Although many new players arrived to the club at the start of the previous season, Mourinho had to make a few signings of his own. He sold some players, and brought in two new midfield players who played excellently in the World Cup. Both of them are Germans, Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil. The former is a defensive midfielder who knows how to play in the attack too, and the latter is a creative force. Although Real has the creative strength in Kaka, he is injured most of the time, so having a backup is not a bad choice at all.

The season started and both players settled in very nicely. Sami Khedira played all matches since the start of the season, while Ozil appeared in 70% of the games. Madrid isn’t playing that spectacular, but these two players make a difference indeed.

The Best Football Leagues To Bet On

Football is a sport loved by people all around the world. Some of them are waiting for the big football tournaments holding their breath. But the thing that is more important than any others is that football not only offers joy and excitement to their fans, but also the opportunity to back up their favorite football leagues in various ways. There are fans who buy tickets for each football match, while others go even further by making it both entertaining and useful.

It is in common knowledge that people make money on football matches, by placing bets on teams, best players etc. But how can we find out which is the best team or which are the top leagues to place your bets on? First of all, before placing a bet you should make sure that you know everything about the team you are going to wager on: how it evolved at previous matches, which are their strong or weak points. Also pay attention to the team’s format, because this is the most important thing for a football game.

I can mention some football leagues that are considered to be the top ones and that are most suitable to bet on, but this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make your own research. This means I will only highlight the ones that are known to be the best countless times. The Premier League was established in 1992, being the continuation of the old Division One – the oldest football league in the world. It has a lot of talented international players and has own more than 10 titles. That’s why this is arguably one of the leagues that will live up to your expectations. The German Bundesliga is not as old as the Premier League, but is also an example of pro in the region. It is known for its high quality games. Bayern Munich is the biggest force in German football, seeing as it has won 23 domestic titles. Borussia Dortmund, FC Schalke 04, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hamburger are no less important, as they are the next giants after Bayern Munich. The Spanish La Liga is also known as the home of Real Madrid and Barcelona, two of the biggest clubs on the planet. No other team except Real Madrid and Barcelona has won La Liga since Valencia in 2004. Seria A, also called Seria A TIM is one of the professional leagues located at the top of the Italian football leagues system. Maybe it’s no longer what it used to be due to the lack of investments, but AC Milan, Inter and Juventus will always remain among the top teams.

And finally, the last one that is advisable to take into consideration when placing a bet is the French League 1. It may not be perfect, but it’s still a very competitive league.

Barcelona and Real Madrid Set For 14-15 Season

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of the most exciting teams in the world. The best players on the planet ply their trade in the Spanish Premiera Division and in mainly these two powerhouses.

Last year, Atletico Madrid got the better of both Barca and Real in the La Liga. Although they couldn’t snap up victory in the Champions League final against Carlo Ancelotti’s side, yet all over they had a great season.

The ten-time European champions, Real, have yet another target this season and it is to win the Champions League again. No club side has ever won back-to-back Champions League trophies. To compete for all the major trophies, the Spanish giants have added a few marquee signings. Toni Kroos is one of those and he has justified his value to be called-up by one of the most successful clubs in the world. Kroos was phenomenal for the German champions, Bayern Munich, and was among the best players in Brazil, 2014 World Cup, which his national side eventually won.

Real not only, grabbed the World Cup winner, but they also convinced the best player of the tournament to sign with them. James Rodriguez was the star in Brazil and he lead his team quite far in the tournament. His tally of 6 goals helped him win the Golden Boot. It will be quite interesting to see how he would do at the Santiago Bernabeu under Ancelotti, who describes James as the player who would be Real’s future. On the other hand, the outgoing players are Nuri Sahin and Morata.

It is quite possible that Real win more silverware than previous season as the Galacticos look more powerful than ever.

Barcelona too, haven’t done bad in this summer transfer window. The Catalonian giants seized the opportunity to sign probably the best striker in the world right now. Luis Suarez is a flawed genius and he definitely attracts controversy. He would be out till October 25th and might feature in the first El Clasico of this season. In addition to the ex-Liverpool man, Barca have brought in Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Claudio Bravo, Ivan Rakitic and Jeremy Mathieu. Alexis Sanchez and Bojan Krkic are the players who were not needed by the new manager at Camp Nou.

Barcelona appeared pale last season and they would look to get back their domination in world football. Leo Messi would again be key for the Blaugrana and would be assisted by Suarez, Neymar and Iniesta. We can’t predict which team would do better than the other because of the sheer quality in both the sides.
